What is Released Time?
The term "Released Time" comes from the idea that children are released from school during the school day for religious instruction with written permission from a parent or guardian. In 1952, the U.S. The Supreme Court upheld Released Time programs as constitutionally legal in all 50 states (Zorach v. Clauson).
Does Released Time interfere with my child’s class schedule?
Released Time class schedules vary by school site, students are signed out of class by the Released Time teacher. Students are allowed by law to make up any test or work collected during their Released Time class.
What are the requirements for my child to attend a Released Time program?
To participate in the Chino Valley Released Time Christian Education program, students must be in 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th grade at any Chino Valley public school and have written permission from a parent or legal guardian.
Released Time Christian Education is 100% privately funded.
Is Released Time offered on school property?
By law, Released Time must be offered off of school grounds. Our volunteers park the Bible Bus as close as possible to the school on public property, then escort students to and from the front office to ensure their safety. The bus remains stationary during class.
