Lesson 10

God

God

After you do something that isn’t right, do you wonder if you’re still a member of God’s family? Everyone who believes in Jesus needs to know that Satan can’t pull you away from your forever family. No one, no how, no way can separate you from the love of God. Not even your own sin. Before you placed your faith in Christ, you were like a kite on the ground with no strength to fly. Then it was as if Jesus picked you up, tied a long unbreakable string around your heart, and set you aloft. He’ll never let you go. He permanently holds you tight. So enjoy the flight. You’re on your way up, up, up to heaven, and that’s worth hollering about with everything you’ve got. God’s Love Holds Me Tight Like a Kite! He Will Never Let Go!

Attributes or Characteristics of God…

Here are just three of the many attributes of God: God is holy - God is loving - God is just

God is Holy…

“But You are pure and cannot stand the sight of evil.” Habakkuk 1:13a

It is not that God has just simply decided not to sin. It is impossible for Him to sin. God is holy and is infinitely perfect in goodness and righteousness. He cannot sin. We know that God wants us to be with Him forever in heaven. And we’ve learned that God’s standard is perfection because He is holy. None of us can meet that standard of perfection because we are all sinners.

God is Loving…

“God is Love.” 1 John 4:8b

This verse says it all! God loves us so much! He is the definition of Love. He has given us every good thing we have here on earth. He has also given us Heaven to look forward too.

God is Just…

“I do not excuse the guilty” Exodus 34:7b

Suppose someone robbed a bank and a hidden camera took a picture of them doing it. So, when he came before the judge and he asked him, “How do you plead?” The evidence would make it clear. All he could say would be, “Guilty, your Honor.” But what if he tried to plead with the judge and said, “I’m sorry I robbed the bank, and I’ll give the money back. I promise I’ll never rob another bank if you let me go.” Do you think the judge would listen to his pleading and let him go? If he did, would he be a just, fair judge? No, there is a standard of justice that requires that every crime committed should be paid for. It is the same with God. He has a standard for justice that requires a payment for all sin. But God, because of His Love for us paid the price for our sins, through Jesus who died in our place.
