Many people think they know the way to heaven. Jesus is the complete one-way street to heaven.

Jesus is God

There is ONE GOD

There is ONE GOD and ONLY ONE GOD. Our ONE GOD, however, exists in three persons.

1. God the Father: All powerful, lives in heaven, creator of everything.

2. God the Son: Jesus, the One who became human and walked the Earth to live a perfect life and pay the penalty for our sins.

3. God the Holy Spirit: The One who lives inside us and guides us through life.

God is always all three! The Father is God, Jesus is God, and the Holy Spirit is God…. all the time!

Jesus, God the Son, lived a perfect life, yet took the penalty for all the world’s sin on His shoulders. And He did it all because of His great love for us.

He died on the cross to save us from our sin. He rose from the grave, and He is alive today. Once we acknowledge that Jesus is our Lord and Savior, and that He is the only way we get to heaven, then we are saved.

When you hang out with a friend or chitchat over the phone, you like to hear positive words, right? Words are amazing. They don’t weigh a thing, yet they have the power to strengthen the soul or crush the heart. That’s why God wants us to weigh what we do and say before we do or say it. He wants us to be especially careful about the way we treat and talk to someone who doesn’t believe in Jesus. When you feel yourself cutting someone down, ask God for the strength to do and say kind things. When that person feels built up, not torn down, he or she just might decide to believe in Jesus. I weigh what I do and say.

Jesus suffered terrible pain for the sins of the world. He was beaten, mocked, and forced to wear a crown of thorns. When he was completely worn out, he had to carry his own cross to the place where he was nailed to it. But greater than the physical pain was the spiritual pain he went through as he took the blame for our sins. By taking our sins onto himself, he was separated from God the Father for the first time. It was more painful than anything he’d ever experienced. But he did it so we could become part of God’s family. It was a strange but wonderful moment in history. Here the one true Lord of the universe was willing to suffer on a cross made by people he had created. Now that’s love. True love. My Boss suffered on the cross.

Sometimes when people go fishing, a fish bites so hard that it takes the bait “hook, line, and sinker.” That means the fish not only swallows the bait and hook, but it swallows even the little metal sinker that keeps the hook below the water. That’s one hungry fish! When we say that a person swallows something “hook, line, and sinker,” it means the person believes everything about it. That’s how God wants us to believe his Word, the Bible. He wants us to take it in “hook, line, and sinker” so we understand it, believe it, and obey it. God’s Book keeps us away from sin and hooked on the right stuff. I’ve swallowed the Book hook, line, and sinker.

We use soap for cleaning all kinds of things: hands, hair, clothes, dishes. Daily bathing with soap keeps dirt and body oils from clogging the pores of our skin. But remember everybody also needs spiritual cleansing. If we want God to forgive us and clean away our sins, we first have to confess them. That means, sincerely praying a one-sentence prayer: “I was wrong, and I’m sorry.” Then, because God’s Son, Jesus, has already died for our sins, God forgives us. That doesn’t seem like too big of a deal, but you’d be surprised at the number of people who refuse to come clean with God. Don’t be like them. Admit your dirt. Let Jesus’ soap scrub you clean and give you hope.

Have you ever stopped to think about all the different kinds of shoes in the world? We’ve got baseball shoes, basketball shoes, soccer shoes, tennis shoes, even jogging shoes. And then there are sandals, clogs, sneakers, loafers, moccasins, boots, and bedroom slippers. The list could probably go on forever, but all shoes have one main purpose: to protect our feet while we’re getting to where we’re going. As Christians, we too, have a primary purpose: to share the Good News about Jesus wherever our shoes take us. You see, people wearing shoes that go and share the gospel are beautiful in the eyes of God. Some beautiful person brought it to you. And you can take it to others. I use my shoes to share the Good News.
