Faith
Life is like the game of baseball. The goal is to get around all the bases and score a run. But every batter is up against nine players on the opposite team who will try hard to get him or her out. When Paul and Silas talked to believers, they reminded everyone that life, like baseball, is full of opposition. If you’re going through a difficult time, God hasn’t left you. In fact, it’s a sure sign that He loves you. Huh? You see, God allows all the players on His team to go through hard times. This is so we will learn to depend on His grace – His kindness and help – to get us from base to base. Receive God’s grace. It’s the only way to get to home base (Heaven). For by Grace I am saved through Faith. I Need Grace to Reach Home Base!

Faith
Saving Faith is NOT Head Knowledge
Some people believe in Jesus Christ in the same way they believe in Abraham Lincoln. Do you believe Abraham Lincoln really lived? Sure. Are you trusting in Abraham Lincoln to do anything for you now? Nope. So, just knowing about someone or believing that they existed is not the same as saving faith. Do you know who else believes that God exists?
James 2:19 says, “You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror.
The Bible tells us here that even the demons believe in God.
So, just believing in God, or believing that Jesus existed, is NOT what the Bible means by true saving faith.
Saving Faith is NOT Temporary Faith
Saving faith is not just for a moment or a passing situation. When we turn to God in a moment when we need or want something specific, like help on a test, protection from harm, traveling mercies, or help in sickness. Itis great to ask God for help or guidance in emergency times and situations but this is not saving faith.
Saving Faith Is
“Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved…” Acts16:31a
Saving faith is trusting in Jesus alone for our eternal life. We’ve been talking about how God offers heaven to us as a free gift. But the gift isn’t ours until we accept it. The way we accept the gift is by believing that Jesus is the reason our sins are forgiven, and we get to go to heaven. It’s not just believing that God is real, and that Jesus was a real man who really walked the earth a long time ago. That’s just like believing Abraham Lincoln really was a president of the United States many decades ago. It’s putting your belief and your trust that when Jesus died on the cross, He paid the price for our sin so that we could go to heaven, so that we could accept that free gift that God offers to us. We have apart to play in getting saved. If someone is holding out a gift to us. We have to extend our arms and take hold of the gift to make it our own. In the same way, God is holding out the gift of heaven to us, but we have to do our part to make it our own.
Saving faith is placing your trust in Jesus Christ ALONE for our eternal life. What are you trusting in?
