Jesus Part 2
There are so many ups and downs in life that we all feel like quitting sometimes. How about you? Are you facing something that feels so hard you don’t think you can follow God over that next hill? Please don’t quit. But do think about Jesus. As He followed God to the Cross to die for our sins, He thought about quitting. But He didn’t. He kept on looking to God for the strength to take one more step and climb one more hill. And God ironed out the way before Him. Then God made Him strong like iron so nothing could keep Him from following God’s plan. Such “iron-will” strength is supernatural. It only comes from God. He gave it to Jesus. And He wants to give it to you. Don’t quit. Trust God. He has a wonderful surprise for you, just over that next hill. I Have the Iron Will to Follow God Over Any Hill!
Jesus Part 2
The Record Book of Sins
There are books containing every sin we’ve ever committed. There are some things in this book that we will not be proud of. There is a problem, God who loves me, is Holy and can’t be around sin at all. Our sin separates us from having a relationship with God. God hates sin. God solved this problem by sending His Son Jesus into the world.
The Bible says, “All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on Him (Jesus) the sins of us all.”
All of our sins, which God hates, have been placed on Jesus who took the punishment for our sins on the cross. When we put our faith in Jesus, are sins are forgiven and paid for. Then God writes our names in the “Book of Life” and we can have a relationship with Him. And best of all, He offers heaven - eternal life- to you and me as a free gift.
Tetelestai
When Jesus was on the cross, just before He died, He said, “It is finished.” The Greek word that was used in Jesus’s time is “Tetelestai,” which means “paid infull” or “the debt is canceled.”
Archaeologists from Alexandria, Egypt discovered bills from different merchants. The bills listed what was owed for each item. Across the paper bills, in bold letters, was written “Tetelestai,” which means “paid in full.” This was a common way to show that someone’s debt was paid. They did not owe anything more for the items they purchased.
When Jesus said, “Tetelestai” which translates “It is finished,” He was saying the penalty for your sins is completely paid. The debt for your sin has been paid in full. Just like an ancient bill with PAID IN FULL written on it. At one point you had a debt, but the moment you put your faith in Jesus, that debt can be considered…. paid infull. Thank you, Jesus!
