Two Diagnostic Questions
Have you ever been sick and had to go to the doctor? What did the doctor do to help you feel better again? Doctors can examine someone to identify their condition or diagnose them. They take x-rays, check injuries, and take blood tests. But first they ask you “How are you feeling? Doctors ask lots and lots of questions to diagnose the problem. When we share the gospel, we can be like a doctor and diagnose how much the person knows about heaven and how to get there.
Two Diagnostic Questions
Sharing the Gospel…
The word “gospel” means good news. It is the good news about who Jesus is, what He has done, and how that changes everything. We share the gospel because God wants everyone to be in heaven with Him. There is a very sad reality for people who die without knowing Jesus, and without putting their faith in Him for the forgiveness of their sins. The sad reality is that they will go to a place called hell. Hell is a terrible place where there is no love, joy, or peace. There is great sadness. And worst of all, God will not be there. No wonder God wants everyone to be with Him in heaven instead! When we share the gospel with someone, we are telling them how they can go to heaven instead of hell. In heaven, there are no bad things. There is no sin, no pain, no sickness, no sadness. Best of all, heaven is where we get to live with God forever. And He wants all of us to be there with Him! When we think about sharing the gospel with others, it is important for us to try to understand whether the person already knows the gospel or not. We need to find out if they already know about God, if they already understand how to get to heaven, and if they have put their faith in Jesus for the forgiveness of their sins. Before you share the gospel with someone, you want to know if they are trusting Jesus alone for salvation or not.
May I ask you two questions?
1. Do you know for sure that you are going to be with God in heaven some day?
2. If God asked you, “Why should I let you into My heaven?,” what would you say?
I have really good news for you! May I share with you how I know for sure I am going to heaven and how you can know this, too? Heaven is a free gift. It is not something that you work for or deserve. It is the gift of God. Godsent His only Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for our sins. If we just have faith in Jesus, we can have the free gift of heaven.
