Lesson 3

Sin & Salvation

Sin
Salvation

Satan is tricky and speaks through whatever gets our attention. The Bible says that in the beginning, snakes didn’t have to crawl on the ground. They were very smart and very clever. So Satan used a snake to sneak up on Eve and ask: “Did God really say that?” Whenever any voice tells us not to believe God’s words in the Bible, remember that the devil’s behind it, coiled and hissing at us like a snake. Don’t listen. Don’t even get close! Call to God for Help to understand Satin’s tricks. And be ready to go the other way. I Make a Mistake When I Listen to the Snake

Sin & Salvation

What is Sin?

Sin is when we make a wrong choice that disobeys God’s rules and goes against the life He wants us to live. We sin in the following ways:

·      Things we do that break God’s Law

·      Thoughts we think that are not in line with God

·      Words we speak that are not in line with God

·       Sometimes even our lack of action could be a sin (we have the opportunity to help someone but choose not to)

Sin enters the world…

The story of sin starts all the way back in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve. God created the world and placed Adam and Eve in a beautiful garden, giving them everything they needed. He gave them just one rule—not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. But they disobeyed God when they were tempted by the serpent, and they ate from the tree. This act of disobedience was the first sin, and it changed everything. Sin entered the world which separates us from a perfect and holy God.

But God loves us so much…

But God had a plan to save us from our sin because He loves us so much. John 3:16 tells us, "For God loved the world (that’s us) so much that He gave His one and only Son (that’s Jesus), so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life." Even though sin created a gap between us and God, He didn’t want to leave us separated from Him forever. That’s why He sent Jesus, His only Son, to earth. Jesus lived a perfect life and then died on the cross to take the punishment for our sins.

What does this mean?

This means that anyone who believes in Jesus and what He did for us can be forgiven and have a relationship with God again. Jesus bridges the gap that sin created. Anyone and everyone who is sorry for his or her sins and believes in what Jesus did on the cross can receive salvation! And one day, everyone who has received salvation will live forever with God in heaven. That is eternal life!

Romans 5:8 is our confirmation “But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.”
